T he Red Devils didn’t need a half-court buzzer beater to win Friday night. But they did need a career night from Griffen Revoyr.
The versatile 6-4 senior led Ironwood with 45 points to will the Devils to a 71-58 win over a Bayfield team that wouldn’t go away in the Indianhead Conference favorite’s house.
Nobody else scored more than eight points for Ironwood, and for this one night, nobody else needed to.
“I told Griff, ‘Thank heavens we had you tonight,’ ” Ironwood coach Pete Lewinski said.
Revoyr, the Devils’ returning All-U.P. Second Teamer, wasn’t mentioned in recently released discussions of the top players in the Upper Peninsula. He will be in that discussion now after Friday night’s big game.
