Raffy Millado leads Marquette past Escanaba

12/19/2018 | Game Recap | By Jason Sutherland

W hen opposing teams scout the Marquette Redmen, they typically focus on their dominant 6-foot-10 senior Marius Grazulis, who draws double teams regularly with a third defender usually necessary to limit his presence around the rim.

The Escanaba Eskymos did their best to limit Grazulis, but they did not account for the unlikely hero for the Redmen: senior point guard Raffy Millado.

In the past, Millado has typically served a defensive role for his team, tasked with limiting the opposition’s top scorer while not being depended on to score much himself. On Tuesday night, Millado demonstrated a new offensive aspect of his game, as he poured in 18 points while controlling the offensive rhythm of the Redmen in their 61-51 victory over Escanaba.
