E ven after defeating a previously undefeated Negaunee team, Eric Shamion isn’t quite ready to publicly claim his West Iron County Wykons as one of the UP’s best. He flashes a wide smile when asked, and it’s one of those expressions where you can sense his excitement, but it’s evident he wants to catch himself in order to give a politically correct answer. You know, gamesmanship, humbleness and all that.
“I think this is a big building block for us,” Shamion said after WIC topped the Miners 53-42 Tuesday in Iron River. “We still got a tough schedule coming up, but this is a big one.”
