No. 1 Iron Mountain has efficient outing in win over Westwood

2/12/2019 | Game Recap | By Bryce Derouin

T here’s a chance that Foster Wonders and Marcus Johnson’s talents will be enough to carry Iron Mountain to East Lansing; they’re good enough to do it. When you see Wonders convert 9 of 12 shots for 25 points in Monday’s 67-40 win over Westwood, or Johnson connect on three 3s and orchestrate an offense to a degree of efficiency that the team has just two turnovers, it’s easy to believe in them.

But there’s also no denying the Mountaineers odds of a trip downstate increase when they display the sharp ball movement that allows Charlie Gerhard, Jaden Vicenzi and Tony Feira to thrive as well. Put those three at other schools and their names would be more well-known throughout the UP. Still, when needed, they can produce in their own right and exhibit a high basketball IQ that separates the Mountaineers as the top team in the UP.
