A lot can change in three years. Roster turnover is natural at the high school level where even the best players typically play three seasons for the varsity program. Good years come in cycles. You have to almost catch lightning in a bottle to have a special season, especially for small schools in the UP. This is what made Dollar Bay’s state semifinal run two years ago so memorable. The trip to East Lansing was the culmination of cultivating one of the premier cores in the UP, and that group went down as the best team in school history. Then the Blue Bolts did it again the following year. Some new faces, some old but with expanded roles. It was a bit of a surprise.
