Menominee eliminated by Cadillac’s 3-point shooting

3/14/2019 | Game Recap | By Bryce Derouin

A midst all the emotional swings and late-game drama between Menominee and Cadillac, Lucas Chouinard let his guard down to take it all in.

“It always has to be like this, doesn’t it?” said the Menominee coach to those along the baseline near his team’s bench. Alluding to the dramatic affairs you see in March, the regional final between the two schools checked all the boxes. There were lead changes down the stretch, stellar individual performances and players converting shots with a high degree of difficulty that defenses simply had to respect them and carry on.

At the time of Chouinard’s comment, his team led by one with under a minute left in the fourth quarter. The Maroons were in control and at the line for a one-and-one. Then, heartbreak.

Molly Anderson’s deep go-ahead 3 will be remembered whenever Cadillac looks back at its 55-51 regional title win in Gaylord, while the Maroons will always lament the two missed free throws that came during one-and-one situations in the final minute.
