M att Ojala is well-known, in part, for putting up big scoring numbers, averaging 19.8 PPG over the last season. The Calumet Copper Kings have relied on him to do so for the vast majority of games over his career. When he was off, the team often followed, like in last season’s defeat to Iron Mountain in the regional final, where he was held to four points. On Tuesday night, the Negaunee Miners did their best to limit Ojala’s scoring, but his relentless penetration in the lane drew in the Miner defense and led to his 12 assists, which in turn led to four of Calumet’s five starters in double figures and a 63-60 victory.
