Marquette bounces back from slow start to beat Gladstone

F irst-game jitters can affect even the most seasoned teams. 

Certainly for the Marquette Redettes, who are replacing much of their starting lineup from last season, there were some nerves to shake off. 

The Redettes came out strong on the boards Tuesday night in their season-opening 50-31 victory over Gladstone. However, even with multiple opportunities on each offensive possession, nothing went in early on. 

“We’ve been playing in this gym a long time, and we just don’t see shots going in all that often,” Redettes coach Ben Smith said.
