W as any of that real? Or was the entire Calumet gym caught in some bizarre dream sequence, full of late-game heroics, implausible events and highlight-reel plays?
There was a 6-5 sophomore knocking down a contested jumper at the buzzer. There was a first-year varsity player shooting the 3 like he was born to do it. There were made free throws and missed free throws. Stars on the court making plays and stars relegated to the bench with a “5” next to their names.
It was perfect.
It was flawed.
It was basketball heaven.
It was basketball hell.
But yes, however unbelievable, it was real.
Real enough for Iron Mountain to add another win to its record, and for Calumet to take its first defeat.
The final score after overtime: Iron Mountain 78, Calumet 71.
