A ll-UP selections usually draw some form of controversy among coaches, players and fans. Not everyone will agree with the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association and that will never change. Those issues aside, we figured we’d give a different perspective on All-UP teams from coaches who see players throughout the UP.

We polled coaches who gave their thoughts on the best players they coached or saw this season. Four girls coaches gave their top lists and two boys coaches also named their All-UP picks. With each team they chose, they offered comments to support their reasoning. For the sake of saving themselves from unnecessary drama, they spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The official All-UP teams will be released starting with the boys on Friday at 12:01 a.m. The girls teams will come out at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday.

Here is what the girls coaches had to say. The coaches on the boys side will have their thoughts posted later this morning.
