It wasn’t really. There was a little bit of history involved, and a little more intrigue, but the Negaunee Miners treated it like your run of the mill basketball game.
When the final seconds ticked off the clock, coach Brandon Sager gave each player on the bench a pat on the head — affectionate, but not overly excited.
And when the buzzer sounded, they walked off the court, shook hands and reported to the locker room.
No. 4 Negaunee defeated No.1 Westwood 46-36 on Friday at Lakeview Gymnasium, but that’s not all there is to it.
