I t took overtime for Dollar Bay and Ontonagon to decide a winner after a tight contest, but the Blue Bolts squeaked by with a win, 47-44 on Saturday in Ontonagon.
“We had to grind out a win tonight in Ontonagon,” coach Jesse Kentala said. “I felt our energy was low all night and we were careless with the ball, which is unlike us. But we’ll take the win against a good conference opponent.”
Davin Hill finished with 12 points, including an overtime 3-pointer, and Brendan LeClaire sealed the victory with three free throws in the extra frame.
Drake Schmitz added 12 points as well on four 3-pointers.
Ed Polakowski led Ontonagon with 18 points, while Austin Walters had 12.
The teams were tied going into the fourth quarter, but each only scored four points to end regulation, forcing overtime.
Dollar Bay has won eight of its last nine contests.
Dollar Bay (12-3) goes to Baraga on Tuesday.
Ontonagon (9-7) travels to play Chassell on the same day.
