B rimley has spent the season blowing teams out, but the Bays played one of their closer games on Friday, coming away with an 89-78 win over Rudyard.
Brimley built its lead in the second quarter, outscoring Rudyard 28-13. From there, Rudyard kept up with the high-tempo Bays, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.
Zach Gross led the Bays with 21 points, with 10 coming in Brimley’s monster second quarter. Tristan Lyons added 20 points and was a near-perfect 7 of 8 at the free throw line.
Marcus Harris contributed 16 points, with 12 coming on 3-pointers, and Hunter Lipponen and Dylan Carrick each scored 14.
Rudyard had a similar scoring spread in the loss as Blake Friisvall recorded 22 points and Austin Warner added 21.
Dylan Mills chipped in with 13 and EJ Suggitt had 12.
With the win, Brimley clinches the Eastern UP Athletic Conference.
Brimley (15-0) hosts St. Ignace on Tuesday.
Rudyard (6-7) travels to play Bay City All Saints on Monday.
