J ason Waterman stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot as Negaunee went on the road and defeated Gwinn 65-41.
Drew Lindberg led the Miners in scoring with 21, and point guard Jakson Sager had eight points, nine assists and five steals.
“Our full court pressure was the key as we jumped out 22-4 after one and 35-9 at the half,” coach Dan Waterman said. “The pressure forced the ball out of [Austin] Forbes’ hands and helped limit the threat that Tucker Taylor presents.”
Taylor led the Modeltowners with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
“It was a tough night for us tonight,” Gwinn coach Jim Finkbeiner said. “Negaunee came out and executed tonight. Their pressure early bothered us and got them a lead that was really difficult to come back from.”
Next up, Gwinn (3-2) goes to Westwood on Thursday, and Negaunee (2-3) travels down the road to Marquette on Friday.
